Wesley G. Lotz | Associate | Bio
Wes Lotz was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and is a graduate of Memorial High School. He was a highly successful, nationally-ranked college debater and magna cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Wes was awarded the Presidential Scholarship for Distinguished Achievement at Wake Forest. He was consistently recognized as a top individual speaker at national debate tournaments, including the National Debate Tournament, and received numerous team awards. During his senior year, Wes and his partner won 90% of their debates, were honored as finalists for the Rex Copeland Award, and finished as the top-seeded team at the National Debate Tournament.
Wes received the Leon Jaworski Scholarship to attend Baylor Law School. He graduated summa cum laude from Baylor Law School in May 2004, finishing second in his class. While in law school, Wes competed on several of Baylor’s nationally ranked moot court and mock trial teams, finishing in first place at the John Marshall Information Technology and Privacy Law moot court competition and reaching the regional finals of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America mock trial tournament. Wes served in multiple leadership positions on the Baylor Law Review as a Notes and Comments Editor, Technical Editor, and as the Senior Executive Editor.
Upon graduating from law school, Wes began his career with Baker Botts LLP, where he gained valuable experience handling civil litigation and appeals as an associate in the trial department from 2004 to 2005. Wes joined Wilson Fulkerson LLP in September 2005, continuing to focus on civil litigation with an emphasis on energy litigation, complex commercial litigation, and arbitration. Wes joined The Law Offices of Tom Fulkerson in November 2006, where his practice centers on business litigation, energy litigation, intellectual property disputes, and employment matters. He was chosen for inclusion in Super Lawyers® - Texas Rising Stars Edition 2008 by Law and Politics magazine. He is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Young Lawyers Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. Wes serves as a co-chair of the Sports Committee of the Houston Young Lawyers Association.
Wes has significant experience with jury trials, arbitrations, class actions, government investigations, and appellate matters. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation involving claims of fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, wrongful termination, and other business torts. Wes has substantial trial experience relative to his peers, including second-chairing a four-week arbitration of a complex commercial dispute involving an energy trading and marketing joint venture and second-chairing a jury trial involving breach of an employment agreement and stock option agreements. Wes has experience in all phases of civil litigation, has taken or defended numerous depositions, and has handled appeals in Texas appellate courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
